As part of its efforts to offer services to its members, the Chamber has published calls for proposals for insurance and the supply of medical insurance services.

The tenders were evaluated and the scheme judged most advantageous was put to the body of engineers. This scheme belongs to the company Alpha Insurance Ltd.

In summary, the benefits offered by the policy are as follows:

1. Life insurance and total disability insurance as a result of an accident to an amount of £20,000 - €34,172.02
2. In-patient treatment costs (100% cover)
3. Out-patient treatment costs (80% cover)
4. Diagnostic, medicinal, medical and nursing costs for any case of sickness or accident (with annual maximum amounts)
5. Coverage of the expenses of Doctor, Laboratory, Clinic or Hospital of their own choice.

The cost of joining the scheme varies according to the age of the insured, from £143.15 - €244.58 (up to the age of 36) to £391 - €668.06 (persons aged 60-65).

From July 2003 up to and including November 2004, about 250 policies have been issued insuring about 600 persons (members and their dependants). 782 claims have already been paid to a total amount exceeding £40,000 - €68,344.05
